Tweens are hitting the town in style.
On Monday, North West was spotted wearing head-to-toe Balenciaga and holding hands with a friend in Manhattan’s Soho neighborhood.
The 12-year-old daughter of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West carried a studded leather shoulder bag ($2,600) by French luxury brand Cagoule
She completed her designer look with a Vivienne Westwood pendant necklace, oversized sunglasses, and a mishmash of silver jewelry.
West then recorded the outing on his TikTok account, which he shares with his mother. She posted two videos lip-syncing to Osamason’s “Pop” with Lil Uzi Vert and a photo of her throwing a peace sign in front of the Mercer Hotel.
The casual outing to Manhattan comes after months of headlines about West’s increasingly bold style choices. In late October, the tween posted a photo wearing a fake face tattoo, fake septum piercing, blue contact lenses, and grills, sparking concern from fans.
After Daily Mail Australia posted a TikTok video with the caption, “North West, 12, worries fans with new look,” the tween responded with what Kardashian called “a nice round of applause.”
“She responds to comments and says, ‘This is not a big deal,'” Kardashian, 45, recalled on Complex’s “GOAT Talk” video earlier this month. Due to West’s age, the mother-daughter duo share a TikTok account, so Kardashian was given credit for the reaction, but she clarified that it was not her doing.
Kardashian has overcome the challenges of raising a fashion-forward pre-teen in the public eye.
During an appearance on Alex Cooper’s “Call Her Daddy” podcast last month, she addressed criticism of some of West’s outfits, including the corset and miniskirt combination she wore during a family trip to Rome.
“It’s very difficult and very interesting because all the kids are wearing the same thing,” Kardashian told the host. “But when my daughter tried to wear it, I was like, ‘Okay, I’m not going to wear it anymore.’ Unfortunately, we made that mistake in front of the whole world.”
Still, the Skims mogul has maintained that self-expression is worth scrutiny. “I’m like, ‘Baby, if you want blue hair, that’s what it is,'” she told Cooper. “It makes her very happy.”
Most recently, West starred in her mother’s Skims holiday campaign for the brand’s Cactus Plant Flea Market collaboration, sporting hip-length electric blue braids while modeling the collection.
“Having North join this campaign is really special to me,” Kardashian said in a press release. “She brings so much personality to her work.”
The ad, shot by filmmaker Harmony Korine and released on November 17, marks North’s first appearance in a Skims campaign since 2020.
