Kate Beckinsale has paid tribute to her late mother with an inked eulogy.
The actress posted a photo of her arm on Instagram on Friday, showing off her new tattoo, which is a full-body sketch of her mother, actress Judy Lo.
Above the new painting are the words “fatherless scum” and a picture of Peepo, the wild fox she used to feed in her backyard.
“If everyone stopped dying, I wouldn’t have so many tattoos,” Beckinsale wrote.
Hollywood-based artist Doc Woo gets a new tattoo.
In the slideshow, she shares some different angles of her arms in black and white and color photos. The final image in the slideshow is a vintage candid snapshot of her mother, which served as the inspiration for the tattoo.
This image is from the 1970s British children’s fantasy TV series Ace of Ones. In it, Law wears a slim long-sleeved top, hot pants, and knee-high white go-go boots. On her shoulder is a Malayan fishing owl named Fred.
In mid-July, Beckinsale revealed that her mother had passed away, writing: “After untold suffering, she passed away in my arms on the night of July 15th.”
The final cause of Law’s death was not disclosed, but Beckinsale spoke candidly about her past struggles with stage 4 cancer two years earlier.
For years, Beckinsale has taken to her social media feed to share sweet moments with her mother.
She has also battled critics who criticize her small size.
When one commenter wrote meanly: “You don’t look good. I honestly think you need help,” she replied: “Yes, I’m going through one of the deepest periods of pain in my life. My body is keeping score.”
Now, her mother will live on in her memory, along with her late stepfather and fox friends, with a memorial on her arm.
