Cardi B gave birth to a baby boy on November 4th. He will be her fourth child and first with boyfriend Stefon Diggs, a wide receiver for the New England Patriots.
To commemorate this experience, the rapper utilized Mommy Made Encapsulation as an umbilical cord keepsake.
This unique item is exactly what it sounds like: a keepsake made from a section of umbilical cord.
According to the company’s website, it’s “a baby’s umbilical cord, dehydrated, shaped into a heart shape, and dipped in gold chrome.”
Stylized and preserved umbilical cords are relatively affordable at just $50. However, this is an add-on to the company’s pricey $500 placenta encapsulation service, which converts the temporary pregnancy organ into pill form that can be taken postpartum.
The 33-year-old also opted for a placenta print ($65). This shape is reminiscent of the tree of life.
The company posted a graphic video on Instagram showing how the umbilical cord is fed and shaped with metal wire, then dried and stored. Commenters remained confused.
“It’s giving…umbilical pretzels,” one person shared. “This is so creepy and so warm at the same time! I love this 🔥🔥,” another user noted.
The brand also shared a video of Cardi B’s unprocessed placenta dyed blue.
Another Instagram fan summed up the mixed feelings, writing, “Memories are welcome, but frying my baby, dyeing my baby, and drying my umbilical cord is not one of them.”
The singer used Mummy Maid for at least her third child, Blossom Belle Cephas, as the brand posted images of her 2024 surgery on her Instagram feed last year.
Cardi B isn’t the only famous parent to use the service. The company shared that it had completed similar procedures for Megan Fox and Vanessa Hudgens.
Engagement rumors surfaced after Cardi shared a baby photo that showed a diamond ring on her left hand.
She has yet to comment on her current relationship status with Diggs.
But in the meantime, she has new gold jewelry made from her baby’s umbilical cord that she can wear repeatedly.
