Billy Bob Thornton is revealing why he and Angelina Jolie ultimately ended their marriage.
The Landman star, 70, recently spoke about his six marriages in an interview with Rolling Stone magazine.
Thornton has been with his sixth wife, Connie Anglund, for more than 20 years, and they finally married in 2014, with whom he now has a 21-year-old daughter, Bella. He is also the father of three other children.
“So I found the right place. The other time I got married, I had a little too much to drink one night and somebody was like, ‘You should get married,'” he told the media. “Yes, I understand.” I always tell people at least I was trying. ”

Thornton was married to his fifth wife, Jolie, from 2000 to 2003 and told the outlet that they “had a great time together.”
“That was one of the greatest times of my life,” Thornton said. “She and I are still very, very close friends, and it ended up being a very civilized breakup. We just broke up because our lifestyles were so different.”
Ms Thornton added that the public interest in their relationship at the time was “pretty strange”.
“I was more famous when we met,” he said. “And when we got together, for some reason, people and the media were very interested in celebrity couples. It seems like a very popular thing. So, it was weird. We didn’t have anywhere to go. I mean, we went. And then, of course, there were times when we would say things that would be soundbites or something.”

Before Thornton, Jolie was married to Jonny Lee Miller and then most recently to ex-husband Brad Pitt, with whom she has six children.
In February 2025, while reflecting on her career at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival and discussing the 1995 film Hackers, the Oscar-winning actress revealed that she and her ex-husband Miller, 53, are still friends.
“I just talked to him and I love it. I get to meet my ex-husband with 2,000 people,” Jolie joked to festival attendees.
“It’s amazing. I’m so glad I got to see it. Actually,” she continued at the time, “it’s funny because I don’t watch a lot of my movies, so I don’t think I’ve seen them since they premiered. But Johnny and I have a great relationship. He and I have a son the same age. We’re very happy.”
