On Tuesday night, Rose Byrne attended ELLE’s Women in Hollywood event, which celebrates the industry’s top talent, and she wore a red strapless Ralph Lauren dress. As the winner of Women in Hollywood, Byrne spoke to ELLE about her career and her captivating new film, If I Had Legs I’d Kick You.
Rose Byrne brought the heat to ELLE’s Women in Hollywood gala in Los Angeles on Tuesday night. The actress arrived wearing a cherry red strapless dress from Ralph Lauren’s Spring/Summer 2026 collection. She completed her look with metallic accessories such as minimalist bangles and silver strappy heels.
Byrne is one of this year’s Women in Hollywood honorees and covers stars in ELLE’s annual portfolio, which spotlights the industry’s most dynamic talent. Speaking to the magazine, she opened up about her groundbreaking new A24 film If I Had Legs I’d Kick You, describing it as an “expression of emotion” that captures the complexities of caregiving and modern motherhood.
“Mothers are respected and ignored at the same time. There’s this duality,” Byrne told ELLE. “It’s so hard to talk about motherhood because if you do anything other than make yourself happy, you feel a lot of shame about it. The movie blows all that away and forces you to pay attention. You have to acknowledge this woman even though she’s making terrible choices.”
Byrne’s willingness to explore complexity has long defined her career, whether expressing the intensity of damage, leaning into the subversive comedy of Bridesmaids and Spies, or embracing the chaos of motherhood in Platonic and Physical. “Having these creative conversations is the most rewarding thing,” she said, reflecting on her collaborations with female writer-directors like Francesca Delbanco and Annie Wiseman. “There’s nothing like being able to share and confess humiliating moments and being noticed and talking about them.”
Now, with early awards buzz building for If I Had Legs I’d Kick You, Byrne is enjoying a new chapter. “I’ve been doing this work for a long time, so I understand that these things can be temporary. It’s been a long journey. So, it’s all about emotions,” she told ELLE.
