Whoopi Goldberg will not appear on “The View” this week because she is out of the country.
The “Sister Act” actress confirmed Monday in a post shared to her Instagram Story that she will not appear on this week’s episode of the ABC talk show.
“If you noticed I’m not on ‘The View’ this week, it’s because I’m working in Italy,” she captioned a photo of herself in the makeup chair.
She then posted a second video of herself trying to speak Italian while getting a manicure.
Goldberg, 70, went noticeably MIA during Monday’s show, leaving co-hosts Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, Sarah Haines and Alyssa Farrah Griffin to fend for themselves.
The actress, who celebrated her 70th birthday with a bang last Thursday, previously announced that she would be starring in the Italian soap opera Un Posto Al Sole.
“They know it’s a crazy idea, I know it’s a crazy idea, but oh my god,” she told fans in an Instagram video in June.
“I’m looking forward to it. I’m excited,” she continued. “No, my Italian isn’t perfect, but it’s manageable. Ciao! See you on TV.”
Goldberg’s multi-episode cameo is expected to air next year.
The comedian admitted he took the role because he was looking for a way to fill his time.
“I only know soap operas here,” she said on Monday’s episode of the show’s “Behind the Table” podcast.
“I love melodrama. I love it. I don’t know how it’s going to work there. I don’t know if I’m going to do four lines from here or three lines from there. I don’t know how it’s going to work. But everything will be new.”
Goldberg also joked to his co-hosts that he wished they could join him.
“You might be able to film something with your cell phone… now’s the time. It’s time to do some things on top of this,” she said.
Goldberg’s hiatus follows Behar’s mysterious absence from the two-episode show, which was later determined to be due to a foot injury.
