Kris Jenner recalls how her late ex-husband Robert Kardashian Sr.’s family reacted when they finally welcomed their baby boy.
The Kardashian-Jenner matriarch, 70, appeared on an episode of Jay Shetty’s On Purpose podcast on Monday, November 17, and was asked to share one thing her children have taught her. Speaking about her son Rob, 38, Jenner recalled how Kardashian Sr.’s side of the family celebrated it like “New Year’s Eve” when they heard she was having a baby boy.
“Rob was just happy, but he was a boy. As you know, Robert Kardashian Sr. comes from a large Armenian family, and the family prayed from day one to have a boy,” Jenner said. “So I always thought, ‘I hope it’s that guy! I hope it’s that guy!'” And then, “It’s going to be Robert Jr.,” and blah, blah, blah. ”

But the mother of six, who had three girls before welcoming her son, joked that it was “another girl” after “another girl”.
“So when Robert was born, it seemed like all the Armenians were happy. His mother and stepfather and their friends were also very happy,” Jenner recalled. “And I remember running to the hospital with this beautiful diamond brooch that she gave me. I was so happy. It was like New Year’s Eve.”
Jenner said it was “really special” to witness the Kardashian Sr. family culture and experience how they celebrated the addition of a baby boy to their family.
“When Robert was born, all of a sudden my Armenian in-laws barged into my house violently,” she explained. “It’s like saying, ‘I’m going to cook Armenian food,’ and trying to teach kids to speak a little Armenian. You know, we didn’t get that far.”
“But it was so fun knowing that and finally having the baby boy that they had always wanted. And it was such a joy,” she continued. “He taught me a lot about what it means and probably what they think of as the head of the family because I had a son. And what that was like. Having a boy was a really great experience.”
Kris shares a son, Rob, with daughters Kim Kardashian, Khloe Kardashian, and Kourtney Kardashian Barker with her late ex-husband Kardashian Sr., and is also the mother of daughters Kendall Jenner and Kylie Jenner with ex Caitlyn Jenner.
Back in July, Rob appeared on his sister Khloe Kardashian’s podcast Khloe in Wonderland and talked about being a father to his 9-year-old daughter Dream with ex Blac Chyna. Speaking about how fatherhood has affected him, Rob said he once thought he would have many children.
“It definitely changed me. It definitely made me more grounded and focused my energy on other things instead,” Rob said of fatherhood. “I’m all about my daughter.”
“For a long time now, I’ve had about five kids and wanted this and that,” he continued. “I couldn’t imagine dealing with five kids.”
“You’ve definitely given me a lot of responsibility because you’re taking care of another human being,” he said. “There’s a lot to do… It’s definitely hard, but I love it. I’m so lucky, Dream makes it so easy. She’s so smart and a good girl. But it’s still so hard.”
