In the new trailer for Netflix’s Wake Up Deadman: Knives Out Mystery, Benoît Blanc returns to solve his most dangerous case yet.
“Wake Up Dead Man” is the third film in the “Knives Out” series directed by Rian Johnson. The film will be released in theaters on November 26th as part of a two-week theatrical run, before premiering on Netflix on December 12th.
The film once again follows rugged detective Bran (Daniel Craig) as he takes on a new mysterious case. The official synopsis reads: “After a seemingly impossible murder shocks the town, and with no obvious suspects found, local police chief Geraldine Scott (Mila Kunis) teams up with renowned detective Benoit Blanc to solve a mystery that defies logic.”
Josh O’Connor stars as Judd Duprentici, a priest sent to assist Friar Jefferson Wicks (Josh Brolin). Wick’s group consists of devout churchgoer Martha Delacroix (Glenn Close), groundskeeper Samson Holt (Thomas Haden Church), lawyer Vera Draven (Kerry Washington), and aspiring politician Cy Do. The group consists of Raven (Darryl McCormack), town doctor Nat Sharpe (Jeremy Renner), concert cellist Simone Vivant (Kailie Spaeny), and writer Lee Roth (Andrew Scott).
After the film’s premiere at TIFF in September, Craig recalled being part of the trilogy as “a complete surprise,” recalling Johnson’s original script for Knives Out.
“We made this work without any ambition,” he told Variety. “Let’s make the best movie we can. And it became something, and here we are.”
Craig went on to admit that he is open to reimagining his character and solving more mysteries in the future. “These movies have to perform at a very high level, otherwise there’s no point in making them,” he said. “As long as they do that, we will continue to do it.”
