Kai Trump, Donald Trump’s granddaughter, has revealed the light-hearted advice she received from the US president ahead of her professional golf debut.
The 18-year-old said the politician urged her to “have fun” as she stepped out to play in the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA)-sponsored Anika Tournament this week at Pelican Golf Club in Bellaire, Florida.
According to FOX News, she recalled Donald telling her, “Go out and have fun. Don’t be nervous.”
Kai, a high school senior, also revealed that he received expert advice from professional golfer Tiger Woods, who is dating his mother, Vanessa Trump.
“He told me to go out and have fun and go with the flow. Whatever happens, happens,” she said.
The teenager also gushed that the player is “the best golfer in the whole world”, adding: “I would say that and an even better human being.”
Woods, 49, and Vanessa, 47, began dating in November 2024, nearly six years after the latter finalized her divorce from Donald Trump Jr.
Meanwhile, Kai told reporters earlier this week that he was just looking forward to getting out there and learning from the tournament.
“I think no matter what happens, I’m going to learn a lot,” she said, according to the Associated Press. “I’m just going to go out there and have fun and see what direction it goes.”
“I’m going to get a lot out of this game,” the young athlete added, explaining that he’s looking forward to “competing against the best” and “being inside the ropes with them.”
For years, Kai has practiced golf with her 79-year-old grandfather, who she describes as “amazing.”
“She’s doing very well and winning a lot of matches,” he told reporters in April.
“Someday she will be able to defeat her grandfather, but I don’t know when that will be. It may take a long time,” the 47th president quipped.
The two were photographed together at the Ryder Cup in Farmingdale, New York, last month.
After graduating from high school, Kai attended the University of Miami and is already focusing on golf.
