All about Eddie Murphy’s 10 children

Becoming a father is Eddie Murphy’s single greatest accomplishment.

Eddie’s journey into fatherhood began in 1989 with the birth of his first child, son Eric Murphy, with his then-girlfriend Paulette McNeely. Over the years, the comedian has welcomed nine more children from four relationships, including two with wife Paige Butcher, whom he married in July 2024.

“I’m so blessed with my kids,” he said in March 2021 on Marc Maron’s WTF podcast. I don’t have anything like that. My kids are wonderful, normal people, none of them are Hollywood idiots. ”

In the Netflix documentary Being Eddie, which premiered on November 12, the Daddy Day Care star opens up about his amazing life and the people he cares about most. “It’s all about my kids,” he says in the trailer.

Eric Murphy

Eric is Eddie’s eldest son and was born with McNeely on July 10, 1989.

Eric kept himself away from the spotlight for years until he started dating Martin Lawrence’s daughter Jasmine. The two announced their relationship in June 2021 and finally got engaged in November 2024.

Jasmine and Eric announced the happy news on Instagram, writing, “We’re engaged!! God has blessed us with a love that truly feels like destiny. We couldn’t be more excited for this next chapter.”

In May 2025, Eric and Jasmine quietly married in an intimate church ceremony.

“They just had the two of them and the preacher. They were doing quiet little things,” Eddie said during an appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show that same month.

Bria Murphy

Bria Murphy is Eddie’s second child and eldest daughter, born on November 18, 1989. He welcomed her with his then-wife Nicole Mitchell, and they were married from 1993 to 2006.

Bria has several TV and film credits, including 2014’s “Hollywood Exes,” in which she appeared alongside her mother, 2016’s “Perfect Match,” and 2017’s drama “Conflicts of Interest.” She also shared the screen with her father in the 2003 hit Daddy Daycare.

Bria married actor Michael Xavier on July 9, 2022. The happy couple got married in front of 250 of their closest friends and family.

In June 2024, Bria and her sisters Shayne Audra and Bella supported their father at the Los Angeles premiere of Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F. He posed for pictures on the red carpet alongside Eddie and Butcher.

Christian Murphy is Eddie’s third child born on November 29, 1990. Eddie welcomed Christian with his ex-girlfriend Tamara Hood.

Like his brother, Christian has dabbled in acting, including a role in 2011’s Cougars, Inc. alongside Jim Belushi and Sarah Hyland.

Outside of work, Christian keeps a low profile and rarely posts on Instagram. When he shares on social media, it’s usually photos and videos of his family and friends.

Miles Murphy is Eddie’s fourth child and was born on November 7, 1992. The actor welcomed Miles with his then-wife Mitchell.

Miles keeps a low profile compared to many of his siblings. However, when he was younger, he went out with his family to various events, including the premiere of Daddy Day Care in 2003 and the premiere of Shrek 2 in 2004.

In 2019, Miles welcomed daughter Evie Ira Murphy with Carly Fink, making Eddie a grandfather for the first time.

Miles and Fink married in a private ceremony in Beverly Hills, California on September 9, 2023, and welcomed their second daughter, Zuri Liv Murphy, in October 2024.

Shane Audra Murphy

Shane is Eddie’s fifth child and was born on October 10, 1994. He took her in with his then-wife Mitchell.

Compared to his siblings, Shayne is very active on Instagram, posting everything from vacation photos to snaps of his dog. She also runs an account dedicated to cooking, where she shares recipes and cooking videos.

She also has some television credits, including appearing on Hollywood Exes with her sister Bria and mother in 2014 and Season 2 of Claim to Fame in 2023.

After being eliminated from Claim to Fame, Shane spoke to PEOPLE about her famous father, saying that he was very supportive of her decision to appear on the show.

“He has a lot of trust in my judgment,” she said, adding that the Murphy family actually watched “Claim to Fame” together. “He’s been watching it all the time. We were just in Hawaii together, and when we got there, the whole family watched it together. It was really cute. He was really engaged.”

Although Eddie has had a lot of success in his career, Shane said, “His favorite thing is just being around kids.”

“He’s just a legend,” she continued. “The biggest thing he taught me is that you can achieve anything you want if you’re willing to work hard enough for it. So he’s a big supporter of dreams and very inspirational and motivating in that regard.”

Zora Ivy Murphy is Eddie’s sixth child and was born on December 24, 1999. He took her in with his then-wife Mitchell.

Like her sister Shayne, Zola also shares quite a bit of her personal life on Instagram, with her posts mostly consisting of selfies and shots showcasing her fashionable style.

Zola, along with her sisters and mother, also appeared on the VH1 reality show Hollywood Exes in 2014.

Zola is currently dating actor and model Tim Vagapoff.

Bella is Eddie’s seventh child and was born on January 29, 2002. Bella welcomed her with his then-wife Mitchell.

Just like her father, Bella has also made a name for herself in film and television. In addition to appearing on Hollywood Exes, her projects include Hulu’s comedy series Dollface and 2021’s Coming 2 America, in which she shares the screen with her father.

In February 2021, Bella and Eddie appeared on the cover of Essence together.

Angel Iris Murphy Brown is Eddie’s eighth child and was born on April 3, 2007. He shares Angel with Melanie Brown, better known as Mel B from the Spice Girls.

Despite a child support dispute between Eddie and Mel B when Angel was a baby, the former couple seem to be on better terms now.

In August 2018, a source told PEOPLE that Eddie is an “amazing father” and that Angel accompanied the whole family on a vacation to Hawaii.

“They all have a very good relationship,” the source revealed. “He always gets them involved with the Angels.”

A source added of the former couple: “Mel and Eddie always talk through Eddie’s mother and there’s nothing wrong with that. That’s how they co-parent. But he’s a really hands-on parent with the kids, especially Angel.”

Izzy Oona Murphy

Izzy Oona Murphy is Eddie’s ninth child and was born on May 3, 2016. Eddie shares a girlfriend with his wife Butcher, whom he has been dating since 2012. The couple got engaged in September 2018 and tied the knot in July 2024 in a private ceremony in the Caribbean.

A source previously told PEOPLE, “[The couple]live a pretty low-key life. They’re all about family. Paige is very close to Eddie’s kids.”

The source added, “They are a very special and happy family. They even spend holidays together. Paige loves being a mom and is very engaged. She takes her daughter to the park and on playdates.”

Max Charles Murphy is Eddie’s 10th and youngest child, born to Butcher on November 30, 2018. She debuted her baby bump in August 2018, a month before Eddie asked her to marry him.

Before the birth, a source told PEOPLE, “[The couple]had hoped that their daughter would have a younger brother.”

About a month after Max’s birth, Eddie’s daughter Bria introduced him to the world through an Instagram post on Christmas. A family photo showed the comedian looking happy, standing in the center of the group while Butcher cradled their three-week-old son.
