Jesse Williams has landed a recurring role on ABC’s “Shifting Gears,” Variety exclusively reports.
The multi-cam comedy will begin airing its second season on ABC on October 1, and Williams will appear alongside series stars Tim Allen and Kat Dennings, as well as a cast that includes Seann William Scott, Darryl “Chill” Mitchell, Maxwell Simkins and Barrett Margolis.
Williams will reprise his role as Andy, who is described as a “single father who frequents Riley’s (Dennings) coffee cart and has his eyes on Riley as well.”
Williams is best known for playing Jackson Avery on ABC’s hit medical drama “Grey’s Anatomy.” Williams first joined the show in 2009 and remained a main cast member until 2021. Since then, he has appeared as a guest star multiple times. He also played Avery on the spin-off series Station 19. His other notable roles include “Little Fires Everywhere,” “Only Murders in the Building,” and the Amazon Original film “Hotel Costiera.” He has appeared in films such as “The Cabin in the Woods” and “Lee Daniels’ The Butler.”
He is repped by CAA, Entertainment 360 and Granderson Des Rochers.
The official logline for “Shifting Gears” reads, “Shifting Gears follows Matt (Allen), the headstrong, widowed owner of a classic car restoration shop.The real restoration begins when his estranged daughter Riley (Dennings) and her children move into his home.”
Allen will serve as executive producer along with Michelle Nader, Marty Adelstein, Becky Clements, Richard Baker, Rick Messina, John Paskin, Jim Patterson, Bob Daly and John Amodeo. Dennings will serve as producer. TV number 20 is the studio.
