Former Dallas Cowboys star Micah Parsons said he hopes his late teammate Marshawn Kneeland “finds peace” after his death at the age of 24.
After the Cowboys confirmed Kneeland’s death in a statement shared with PEOPLE on Thursday, Nov. 6, Parsons, 26, responded to the tragic news on social media.
Parsons, now a member of the Green Bay Packers, reposted a black-and-white image of the football player on the NFL’s Instagram as a tribute to Kneeland. Parsons added to his Instagram Story post, “Sorry, little brother.”
Parsons added: “I hope you find peace,” adding a heartbroken emoji.

“The Dallas Cowboys are deeply saddened by the tragic passing of Marshawn Kneeland this morning,” the Cowboys said in a statement shared with PEOPLE.
“Marshawn was a beloved teammate and member of our organization. Our thoughts and prayers for Marshawn are with his girlfriend Catalina and his family.”
In a statement to Tom Pelissero, Mr. Kneeland’s attorney, Jonathan Presley, said he was “shocked” to learn of the death of his client and “beloved friend.”
“I watched him go from a hopeful kid with dreams at Western Michigan University to a respected professional with the Dallas Cowboys,” Presley continued in a statement.
“Marshawn poured his heart into every snap, every practice and every moment on the field. Losing a man of his talent, spirit and goodness is an indescribable pain. My heart goes out to his family, teammates and everyone who loved him. We hope they feel the support of the entire football community during this unimaginable time.”
Kneeland was a second-round pick of the Cowboys in the 2024 NFL Draft after a successful college career at Western Michigan University. In his two years with Dallas, Kneeland appeared in 18 games, recording 26 tackles and one sack.
