Amber Valletta is still a fashion superstar.
The model had her jaw on the floor when she hit the red carpet at the 2025 CFDA Awards wearing one of the world’s most iconic dresses.
Perhaps best known for the look that broke the internet, Valletta appeared in a veritable green plunging Versace dress worn by Jennifer Lopez at the 2000 Grammy Awards.
In fact, this dress certainly left its mark on the internet and is said to have inspired the creation of Google Images.
After J.Lo appeared on the red carpet in 2000, Google’s servers were flooded with written search requests for the dress, prompting Google to create an image search feature.
While Lopez may have made this gown famous, Valletta was actually the first to wear the look.
Walking the Versace spring 1999 runway show, Valletta, then 26, modeled the now-iconic look. She was also the face of that season’s advertising campaign, where she was photographed wearing the same revealing dress.
“This dress was Googled more than any other look in history,” Valletta revealed to Vogue, adding, “[Lopez]literally broke the internet when she wore it, so it’s kind of cool to be a part of that history.”
In honor of its fame, the model also wore a shorter version of the dress to open the Spring 2000 show the following year.
Lopez herself then surprised attendees, who rose from their seats and applauded, wearing an outfit that recreated a look from Versace’s Spring 2020 show.
More than 25 years later, the most Googled dress of all time is back in Valletta.
It was a fitting choice, as the model was attending Donatella Versace’s Positive Change Awards ceremony, which honors LGBTQ+ advocacy and philanthropy.
Valletta was always going to choose a Versace look for this occasion, but she’s breaking the internet once again with a choice so poignant that she’s helping make the most of its Google Images search history.
