Variety reports that Steve Howie has joined Season 2 of Netflix’s “Ransom Canyon” as a recurring guest star.
Howie will play Levi, Staten’s (Josh Duhamel) half-brother. The character is further described as being “some kind of mountain man who lives off the land.” Howie will appear alongside Duhamel, along with other cast members Minka Kelly, Lizzy Greene, Garrett Wareing, Jack Schumacher, Marian-Lee Tejada, and Casey W. Johnson. Production on Season 2 is currently underway at Netflix Studios in Albuquerque.
Howie is best known for playing Kevin Ball on all 11 seasons of Showtime’s hit series Shameless. The show ended in 2021. Howie also led the television series adaptation of “True Lies” on CBS following “Shameless,” and is also known for his role in the hit comedy “Reba.” His other recent television credits include “High Potential,” “Happy’s Place” (reuniting him with “Reba” star Reba McEntire), “Brilliant Minds” and “SEAL Team.” He will also star in the highly anticipated TV adaptation “Off Campus,” currently in production at Prime Video.

In addition to the aforementioned series regulars, the recurring cast for “Ransom Canyon” Season 2 includes Patricia Clarkson, Ben Robson, Heidi Engerman, Tatanka Means, Justin Johnson-Cortez, Kenny Miller, Philip Winchester, Jennifer Enns, Brett Cullen, and Nico Guardado.
The official description for Season 2 reads, “The future of Ransom Canyon is in jeopardy as cattle dynasties continue to vie for power, and a new figure arrives to threaten the lives and loves of this quaint western town.”
April Blair developed the series and serves as executive producer and showrunner. Dan Angel and Bradley Gardner will serve as executive producers, with Duhamme and Kelly also starring and serving as executive producers.
