Reese Witherspoon has given a rare update on her relationship with longtime friend Jennifer Aniston and ex-husband Brad Pitt.
Witherspoon, 49, insisted on Monday’s episode of the Armchair Expert podcast, “She’s not who people think she is. She’s kind of holding on to the old stuff. She’s not holding on to the old stuff.”
In response to this comment, host Dax Shepard (50) pointed out, “It’s not like she admires Brad Pitt.”
Witherspoon echoed this comment, adding, “By the way, for her 50th birthday, all of the people from her teenage years, people from her 20s, people who work at her house, ex-husbands, ex-boyfriends were there, which is one of the biggest testaments to how great of a person she is.”
Page Six previously revealed that even Pitt, 61, and his ex-fiancée, actress Gwyneth Paltrow, celebrated Aniston’s 50th birthday together in February 2019.
“She’s a spiritually honest person,” Witherspoon said of her “Morning Show” co-star, whom she has known for 25 years.
The “Legally Blonde” star acknowledged Shepard’s “correct” claim that Aniston, 56, is “not the type of person to build bridges.”
Witherspoon insisted she held no grudges, but explained that she and the Friends star are “totally different people.”
“She’s really warm and welcoming. She’s like a great host. She’s like, ‘Come here!’ She’s really warm and friendly,” the actress said. “I think I’m more of a nerd.”
Aniston, who just went Instagram official with her new boyfriend, hypnotist Jim Curtis, was previously married to fellow actor Pitt from 2000 to 2005.
She then married actor Justin Theroux from 2015 to 2018, and the two are still friends.
The Emmy Award winner is also known for dating John Mayer, Vince Vaughn, Paul Rudd and Jon Stewart.
