Buckle up!
Savannah Guthrie and Jenna Bush Hager made a fashionable appearance Friday on the Halloween episode of the “Today” show, dressed as Miranda Priestly and Anna Wintour.
Guthrie’s fitted The Devil Wears Prada costume has arrived ahead of the long-awaited sequel, which is scheduled to hit theaters in spring 2026.
The show posted a video on Instagram showing the two meeting backstage in costume and admiring each other’s looks, with the anchor joking that Bush Hager’s floral dress was “fake Dolce, fake Luce” and captioning it “fashion icons meet.”
But the devil really was in the details. Guthrie’s custom wig took 80 hours to make and was the show’s most challenging Halloween costume, creator “Saturday Night Live” head hair designer Jodi Mancuso told TODAY.
“This is a very special wig that actually had to be made,” Mancuso said. “Savannah took quite a while. I had to slowly mix the colors together.”
After perfecting her signature silvery-white hue, Mancuso spent another three hours cutting and styling to mimic Streep’s iconic bob.
Guthrie completed her transformation with a replica Prada handbag, high-heeled pumps, sunglasses, and earrings that costume designer Stacey Greenbaum colored with Sharpie markers to get the right color.
Meanwhile, Bush Hager’s dress was custom printed to match the Vogue icon’s floral Dolce & Gabbana dress that she wore at Milan Fashion Week in September. It was then that Wintour met Meryl Streep, who played Priestley, while filming the sequel to The Devil Wears Prada, backstage at a Dolce & Gabbana show.
The video went viral and made the timing of Guthrie and Bush Hager’s costumes even more perfect.
Guthrie’s real-life assistant Caitlin Vickery also had a cameo on Today as Miranda’s assistant Andy Sachs, played by Anne Hathaway in the original 2006 film, of course, appearing in a runway interview outfit and a pre-makeover montage.
Other cast members in the show’s extravagant Halloween costumes included Craig Melvin as Prince in his Purple Rain costume, Sheinelle Jones as Beyonce in Cowboy Carter, and Al Roker as Mr. T’s Clubber Lang in Rocky III.
