‘BMF’ to be canceled after four seasons on Starz

“BMF” on Starz has been canceled, Variety reported.

The crime drama ran for four seasons on premium cable TV, with the season 4 finale airing in August. The show originally debuted on Starz in 2021.

“BMF” was one of several shows produced by Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson for Starz through G-Unit Films and Television Inc. Jackson has previously said multiple “BMF” spinoffs are in the works at Starz, and sources say those projects are still in development.

“BMF” told the story of the rise of the Black Mafia Family, a notorious street gang that originated in Detroit in the 1980s. The cast included Demetrius Flenory Jr., son of BMF co-founder Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory, as well as Da Vinci, Russell Hornsby, Michole Briana White, Steve Harris, La La Anthony, Sydney Mitchell, Lila D. Pruitt, Miles Truitt, and Eric Coffey-Abrefa.

Celebrities such as Snoop Doog, Wood Harris, Mo’Nique, Eminem, 2 Chainz, and Saweetie performed during the show’s broadcast.

The official logline for “BMF” season 4 reads:

“As Meech (Flenory) and Terry (DaVinci) fight to preserve the American Dream, staying ahead of rivals and law enforcement takes a toll on their relationship. The brothers may put aside their differences for a common goal, but events in Mexico will change them forever.”

Randy Huggins created the series and served as executive producer. Heather Zulke served as showrunner and executive producer for seasons 3 and 4, and Jackson served as executive producer through G-Unit Film and Television. Anthony Wilson and Ann Clements also served as executive producers. Lionsgate Television was the studio.

In addition to “BMF,” Jackson is also an executive producer on Starz’s hugely popular “Power” series. On that note, “Power Book III: Raging Kanan” is currently gearing up for its fifth and final season, and “Power Book IV: Force”‘s third and final season will premiere on November 7th. Starz is also currently working on a prequel, “Power: Origins,” and a spinoff, “Power: Legacy,” is also in development, with a writers’ room currently open.

Jackson is also an executive producer on Starz’s upcoming boxing drama “Fightland,” and has multiple scripted series, documentaries and films in development for Starz as well as Hulu, Peacock and other streamers. As an actor, Jackson is also scheduled to appear in the upcoming “Street Fighter” movie as the Balrog.
