Prince Harry was seemingly out of the loop when it came to hot topics in the music world when he made a surprise appearance on a podcast.
The 41-year-old Duke of Sussex appeared on the podcast ‘Hasan Minhaj Doesn’t Know’ in an episode published on October 29, where the host opened the show by asking about the rumored feud between pop superstars Taylor Swift and Charli XCX.
“This is heavy, Harry. What do you think about this Taylor Swift, Charlie xcx beef?” Minhaj asked as the episode began.
“Why? No, you’re not,” Harry replied, looking genuinely confused. The prince glanced off-camera as if asking for help, raised his eyebrows in confusion, and then began to laugh awkwardly. It was clear from his reaction that he had no idea what the interviewer was saying.
“No, this is serious. I mean, was Charlie’s diss track a diss track? I mean, to me, ‘Sympathy is a Knife’ was about something completely different. But then Taylor came back and I think it escalated with ‘Actually Romantic,'” Minhaj explained.
“And I’m thinking to myself, ‘Is this fair? Or did Charlie draw blood and Taylor had to comply?'” he continued.
Prince Harry paused before speaking, and Minhaj interjected: “Sometimes I wonder, where do we go from here?”
“Yes,” Prince Harry said with a laugh.
Harry’s podcast moment came a day after his wife Meghan Markle jammed with Swift’s Life of a Showgirl song “Opalite” just before the launch of the latest installment of his lifestyle brand As ever.
According to the logline, Minhaj and Harry delve into how the Duke of Sussex is adjusting to life in America, the risk of making the same mistakes between the AI boom and the rise of social media, and “what a man has to do here to earn a knighthood.”
In a clip shared on Instagram, the comedian asked Harry if he could imitate an American accent. Harry did his best, joking about ordering ranch breadsticks at Applebee’s.
