She offers a double scoop.
Tyra Banks embraces her love of ice cream and her age in a deliciously playful new photoshoot for King Kong magazine issue 20.
The 51-year-old supermodel and entrepreneur appears on the cover wearing pink sunglasses and a soft-serve ice cream-inspired bustier.
This surreal ice cream top is a “custom digital look” by Tribute Brands, which describes itself as “a fashion brand that creates physical clothing and digital skins with the belief that the future of fashion spans multiple realities.”
Inside the magazine, Banks continues her homage to all things dessert, posing in an ice cream waffle cone dress and towering pink platform sandals, paired with a voluminous blonde wig and turquoise eyeshadow.
She also appears in a toy car with the license plate “SMIZE”. This is a term often coined by the former “America’s Next Top Model” host, and is a nod to the meaning of “smiling with the eyes.”
In a conversation with nightlife veteran Amanda Lepore, Banks said she’s more confident than ever in her modeling career.
“It’s scary that in my 50s I’m posing better than I’ve ever been in my entire life,” she told Repole. “Years of modeling, teaching, and knowing my body and angles have made me a master. And there’s something about it that looks and feels fiercer than ever.”
The shoot comes as Banks continues to expand her Smize & Dream ice cream empire, which opened in Australia earlier this year. The ice cream-obsessed supermodel recently released a limited-time “hot ice cream” product, much to the annoyance of her fans.
Banks posted about the unusual menu on Instagram, explaining that it took the company’s “super popular Fairy Dough Diva ice cream” flavor and gave it a “hot makeover.” result? Fairy Dough Diva Hot Mama describes it as “silky, smooth, and slurpably warm,” but “not like melted ice cream.”
During his conversation with Report, Banks brought up the topic of ice cream flavors, and even designed a custom flavor for the New York City icon.
She also reflected on her Smize & Dream flavor, Tyra’s Favorite, and wondered why it didn’t represent her image better.
“I’m well known for my bust line, but what’s that about ice cream? Chestnut? Double spoon marshmallow?” she wondered. “I need to stop this interview right now and get back to the flavor studio because I need to get serious about my flavors.”
The filming of King Kong also featured Banks teasing a project fans have been requesting for decades: the Eve doll from the 2000 film Lifesize.
“Baby, if I had a dollar for every time someone asked me about that doll…I could probably fund an entire Eve factory,” she told Ms. Lepore.
“Don’t say never. You might wake up one day, turn on your phone, and hear a bang… Eve is in a virtual shopping cart. Dreams sneak into reality in funny ways.”
