Mick Jagger, Madonna, Leonardo DiCaprio, Claudia Schiffer, Helena Bonham Carter and Sarah Snook are just a few of the big names who were spotted perusing art at the Frieze London Art Fair over the weekend.
Spies say Jagger was viewing the work with his friend, British artist Marc Quinn. His famous 2006 piece “Sphinx” was a sculpture of Kate Moss doing yoga.
Madonna was seen admiring art in a long black trench and wide-leg pants with Robert Diament of Carl Friedman Gallery, host of Talk Art with Russell Tovey.
“Madonna was active and in conversation with many galleries and clearly had knowledge and passion for art,” the spy said.
DiCaprio, an avid collector and known for his interest in dinosaur bones, was spotted with his girlfriend Vittoria Ceretti and her family, wearing the typical art fair uniform of a ball cap and face mask.
The “Gangs of New York” star was spotted chatting unmasked with artist Michelangelo Pistoletto, who is opening a new exhibition called “Picasso/Pistoletto” at DiCaprio’s friend Helly Namado’s London gallery.
Along with Galerie Continua founder Lorenzo Fiaschi, they were discussing the Renaissance and Piero della Francesca’s 14th-century painting “The Flagellation of Christ,” according to a post from the gallery.
Princess Eugenie, Jamie Dornan, Emma Thompson and actress Rachel Weisz also spotted work from more than 168 galleries at the British fair, along with big fashion names such as Pierpaolo Piccioli (who just made a comeback with Balenciaga), Raf Simons, Rick Owens and photographer Mario Testino.
Single pop star Lily Allen, who just detailed her single life in a separate new interview with Stranger Things actor David Harbour, was later spotted chatting with British model and Queer Bible founder Jack Guinness at a VIP collector’s dinner.
Patsy Kensit and Oasis rocker Liam Gallagher’s son Lennon was also spotted.
The fair also featured some big ticket sales, including a painting by Jean-Michel Basquiat and Andy Warhol that sold for $6 million through Frieze Masters’ Vito Schnabel gallery.
Several works by artists such as Gabriele Münter, René Magritte, Paul Klee, Marcel Duchamp and Alina Shaposhnikov sold for more than $1 million.
