Harry Potter star Tom Felton joins the cast of Broadway’s Harry Potter and the Cursed Child to reprise his role as Draco Malfoy Exclusive photos of Felton in rehearsals ahead of debut on November 11th at New York City’s Lyric Theater Felton’s 26-week limited appearance in the play is currently scheduled to run through May 10, 2026

Tom Felton steps back into the shoes of Draco Malfoy, and PEOPLE has an exclusive first look at him in action.

The Harry Potter star, 38, will reprise his role from the hit film series in the Broadway production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. The film takes place 19 years after the events of Deathly Hallows and follows the next generation of wizards as they solve Hogwarts’ latest mysteries.

This will be Felton’s first time playing the character since his last film was completed in 2011, and his first time on Broadway. This will also be the first time the film’s actors will appear in a blockbuster stage show.

PEOPLE can exclusively reveal photos of Felton from inside the rehearsal room before he takes the stage at the Lyric Theater in New York City.

This photo, taken by Mark J. Franklin, shows Felton immersed in rehearsals as he reconnects with the world that made him famous. The actor seems to be concentrating his concentration and emotions as he plays the grown-up Draco, who is now a father, in a continuation of JK Rowling’s story, along with his theater troupe members.

In one snap, Felton can be seen hugging Aidan Close, who plays Draco’s son Scorpius in the film.

“I always wonder if I’m dreaming,” Felton told PEOPLE on the red carpet at the 2025 Tony Awards in June, adding that he’s a “huge fan of the show” and has “seen it a dozen times, mostly in England and now on Broadway.”

“I never saw myself reprising the role with blonde hair again,” he admitted. “Now that he’s a father, Draco has a son. Yes, this character is an old character, but in a very new context. I’m excited to explore that.”

The actor added that his former co-star Daniel Radcliffe, a Tony Award winner and longtime Broadway veteran, gave him advice ahead of his debut.

“My friend from school, Potter, (Daniel) Radcliffe, has quite a bit of experience on Broadway, so he definitely holds my hand and helps me with all the things that are hard to learn,” Felton said. “But from what I’ve gathered, it’s a great community of people. The fans are really, really nice and excited. So I’m just excited to be a part of it.”

Felton will join Harry Potter and the Cursed Child starting Tuesday, November 11th. His limited 26-week engagement is currently scheduled until May 10, 2026.

This captivating play, written by Jack Thorne in collaboration with Rowling and production director John Tiffany, premiered in London and opened on Broadway in April 2018. It won six Tony Awards that year, including Best Picture.

The play was originally presented as a two-part show, but was rearranged as a one-part show after Broadway reopened following the coronavirus pandemic shutdown.

Felton’s actors, John Skelly and Emmett Smith, joined the Broadway company after playing the roles of Harry Potter and Albus Potter, respectively, in touring productions across North America. Other cast members include Rachel Christopher as Hermione Granger, Daniel Frederick as Ron Weasley, Janae Hammond as Rose Granger-Weasley, and Kristen Martin as Delphi Diggory.

Cursed Child has not yet been made into a movie, but Chris Columbus, who directed the first two Harry Potter films, previously said he would helm the sequel, with the original cast members Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson joining the adult cast.

The 66-year-old filmmaker told The Hollywood Reporter in November 2021, “This version of the Cursed Child, starring Dan, Rupert and Emma at the appropriate ages, is cinematic bliss.” “To actually see adult actors coming back to this role now? Oh yeah. It would be amazingly fun to make that movie, or two movies.”

As for Felton, he has never been shy about his desire to return to the wizarding world on screen. Speaking to PEOPLE in June 2021, he revealed that he wouldn’t just jump at the chance to play Draco again in a movie.

“If you asked me, I would dye my hair blonde again to be Draco, absolutely,” Felton exclaimed. “I would welcome the chance to be Malfoy again.”

Tickets for “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” are on sale now.
