Ciao, Rome! Netflix has released the first teaser trailer and stills for season 5 of Emily in Paris. Starring Lily Collins as Emily Cooper, the new season follows the titular Francophile as she embarks on a new journey between Rome and Paris. Judging by the trailer, the new season will see the romance between Marcello and Emily heat up, with boat adventures, road trips, and lavish parties.

“The cast and crew of Emily in Paris are thrilled to begin filming Season 5 in the Eternal City,” creator Darren Star told Netflix when production began on Season 5 in May. “From the rooftops of Paris to the ruins of Rome, we can’t wait to share where Emily’s next chapter takes us.”
Collins and Franceschini will be joined by returning cast members Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu (Sylvie Grateau), Ashley Park (Mindy Cheng), Lucas Bravo (Gabriel), Samuel Arnold (Julian), Bruno Gourie (Luc), William Abadi (Antoine Lambert), and Lucien LaVicount (Alfie). Minnie Driver has joined the cast for Season 5 and will play Princess Jane, a royal friend of Emily’s boss Sylvie, as previously revealed by Variety.

Season 5 of Emily in Paris begins in Rome (fueled by Emily and Marcello’s sizzling romance in Italy), but the star assured fans that the series will eventually return to its Parisian roots. “Emily will have a presence in Rome,” Starr said. “That doesn’t mean she’s not in Paris.”

“Marcello is a completely different adventure that we want for Emily, because ultimately we want her to have a better work-life balance,” Starr added. “We want Emily to be unapologetically funny. We want to see her beyond vacation mode. And he comes along at the perfect time.”
The trailer also shows Lucas Bravo’s Gabriel ditching his scruffy look from last season and returning to his original muscular look, sporting blonde highlights and a California tan.
