Ana de Armas and Tom Cruise were rumored to be dating earlier this year after they were spotted together in London, Spain and Vermont. However, on October 20, People magazine reported that the two were not officially a couple, saying they were set to star in an upcoming thriller and spoke highly of their working relationship.

A source close to de Armas told the magazine that Cruz is a “dear friend and mentor” to de Armas and that he “really enjoys spending time with him.”
“But she is single and has been for some time,” the source added. “She continues to keep in touch with Tom. He has upcoming film projects lined up, which she is looking forward to.”
Rumors of a romance first surfaced in February, when the pair were spotted having dinner in London on the eve of Valentine’s Day. In the months that followed, the Mission: Impossible actor and ballerina star spent more time together, traveling to Spain and Vermont, where they were photographed holding hands.
The acting duo will star in the thriller, which will be helmed by director and producer Doug Liman and Christopher McQuarrie. Cruz and de Armas have never publicly commented on their alleged romance, but have been open about their working relationship.
“Obviously, everyone knows that I work with Tom Cruise,” de Armas told Women’s Wear Daily in May. “And of course, just like when I’m working with Tom, I’m also training like crazy. After vacationing in Vermont in July, a source told People magazine on Aug. 6 that the actors “had a great vacation together.” The source added that de Armas, who has a home in Vermont, “enjoys being a host” and “loves spending time with Tom.”
At that point, Cruz and de Armas were “very focused on starting a new project together,” the source said. “This is important to both of us. The filming schedule will be tough, but we are ready.”
“It’s Anna’s first time working with Tom and she wants to do her best,” the source added. “She knows he has high standards on set, but she’s ready for the challenge.”
