Rakuten Viki is strengthening its original content offering with the addition of two new K-drama series starring big stars, the streaming platform has revealed.

On the same platform, “Moon River” starring Kang Tae-oh (“Woo”) and Kim Se-jeong (“Breaking Love”, “Business Proposal”), and “Last Summer”, headlined by Lee Jae-wook (“Alchemy of the Soul”) and Choi Sung-woong (“My Name is Ro Ki-wan”), will be premiered as Viki Originals. In addition, the thriller “Dear

“Moon River,” set in the Joseon Dynasty, depicts Crown Prince Lee Gang, who vows revenge after his wife is executed for political reasons. His quest takes an unexpected turn when he meets Park Dal I (Kim), a traveling merchant who bears an uncanny resemblance to his late wife. A mysterious connection causes the two to switch bodies, causing further complications.

“Last Summer” revolves around twins Baek Do-ha and Baek Do-young (both played by Lee Jae-wook) who grew up on different continents after their parents divorced and reunite for three weeks every summer. The siblings also develop a friendship with their neighbor Song Ha-kyung (Choi). Several years later, Do-ha, now an adult, loses contact with Ha-kyung due to a tragedy and ends up revealing the painful truth.

In Dear Her only reliable ally is her lifelong confidant, Yoon Jun-seo (Kim Young-dae), but when she tests his loyalty too much, he begins to suspect that he is simply part of her dangerous plan.

“Moon River” will be released on October 31st, followed by “Last Summer” on November 1st and “Dear X” on November 6th.

These new titles join Viki’s growing collection of exclusive content for more than 100 million registered users. The platform recently exclusively distributed the critically acclaimed “My Youth” to audiences in the U.S., Latin America and Europe in September, and the co-production “My Girlfriend is the Man!,” based on the popular webcomic, was released in July.

“Demand for Korean dramas continues to soar around the world, and Viki is committed to investing in high-quality content that viewers can’t find anywhere else,” said Jaehee Hong, SVP of Content at Rakuten Viki. “‘Moon River,’ ‘Last Summer,’ and ‘Dear

Viki is available as a free, ad-supported service or through tiered subscriptions with Viki Pass Standard and Viki Pass Plus. The platform can be accessed from connected TVs, desktops, mobile and streaming devices.
