Former NFL player Doug Martin has passed away. He was 36 years old.
Mr. Martin passed away on Saturday, October 18th. The following day, his family announced the news in a statement to the Tampa Bay Times: “It is with great sadness that we share with you that Doug Martin passed away on Saturday morning.”
No other details about Martin’s death were released, and the cause of death was not disclosed.

Martin played in the NFL for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Oakland Raiders. He was with the Florida team from 2012 to 2017, and in 2018 with another team, now known as the Las Vegas Raiders.
The running back was selected by the Buccaneers in the first round of the 2012 NFL Draft.
Before joining the NFL, Martin attended Boise State University from 2007 to 2011 and played for the Boise State Broncos.

The Buccaneers paid tribute to Martin on social media following his death, writing, “We are deeply saddened to learn of the sudden and unexpected passing of Doug Martin.”
“From his record-setting rookie season in 2012 to multiple Pro Bowl selections in his six seasons with the Buccaneers, Doug made a lasting impact on our franchise,” the team continued.
“He was a fan favorite during his time in Tampa Bay and was recognized as one of the top 50 Buccaneers of all time for his many accomplishments. Our hearts go out to his family, friends and everyone Doug touched throughout his life.”
