PVR Inox Limited, India’s largest film exhibition company, will roll out the red carpet for Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan at a film festival celebrating his birthday on November 2nd.
The two-week event, starting October 31, will screen seven of Khan’s most iconic films in more than 75 theaters in more than 30 cities, giving both longtime fans and new audiences the chance to experience Khan’s 30-year career on the big screen.
The carefully selected line-up encompasses Khan’s versatility as a performer, from the action comedy ‘Chennai Express’ and the romantic epic ‘Devdas’ to the political drama ‘Dil Se’ and the recent blockbuster ‘Jawan’. ‘Kabhi Haan Kabhi Na’, ‘Main Hoon Na’ and the meta-Bollywood tribute ‘Om Shanti Om’ will also be screened.
“Movie theaters have always been my home, and seeing these films come back to the screen feels like a beautiful reunion,” Khan said in a statement. “These films are not just my story, but the audiences who have embraced them so lovingly over the past 33 years.”
The actor thanked PVR Inox for launching the festival and his production banner Red Chillies Entertainment for “always believing in the stories that connect us all.”
Niharika Bijli, chief strategist at PVR Inox, called Khan “not just a global icon, but an emotion,” adding that the festival is “a tribute to his artistry and the joy and hope he continues to bring to audiences around the world.”
This retrospective is part of PVR Inox’s ongoing efforts to celebrate groundbreaking films and outstanding talent from India and abroad. The exhibitor’s aim is to introduce young audiences to classic films, while at the same time giving older generations the opportunity to relive the theatrical experience.
PVR Inox operates 1,757 screens in 353 cinemas across 111 cities in India and Sri Lanka.
