Britney Spears has hit back at ex-husband Kevin Federline, accusing him of cheating on multiple occasions in an excerpt from her memoir about their brief marriage.
“The constant gaslighting from my ex-husband is extremely hurtful and exhausting,” the “Toxic” hitmaker wrote in excerpts and a recent interview with Federline via X on Wednesday night.
“I have always begged and cried for my sons to live with me,” she continued. “Relationships with teenage boys are complicated. I am depressed by the situation and have constantly asked, almost begged, for them to be a part of my life.”
Spears also claimed that Federline’s sons Sean Preston, 20, and Jayden James, 19, had “constantly witnessed my father not respecting me” and that they “need to take responsibility for themselves” as adults.
The “Baby One More Time” singer also claimed that “one son” has only seen her “45 minutes in the past year,” and her other son has only seen her “four times in the past five years.”
“I have pride too,” the 43-year-old songstress wrote. “From now on, I’ll let them know when I’m free. Believe me, the white lies in that book, they’ll go to the bank right away, and the only one who’s really hurt here is me.”
The “I’m a Slave for You” singer ended her statement on social media with a note of love for her sons. “I will always love them. If you really knew me, you wouldn’t pay attention to the tabloids about my mental health or drinking,” she wrote.
“In fact, I’m a very intelligent woman who has spent the past five years trying to live a sacred and private life. I speak about this because I’ve been through enough, and any real woman would do the same.”
Representatives for Federline did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment Wednesday evening.
The former backup dancer’s book, You Thought You Knew, is scheduled to be released on October 21st, but Federline, 47, who was married to Spears from 2004 to 2007, has leaked excerpts ahead of its release.
In excerpts obtained by The New York Times on Tuesday, Ms. Federline claimed that her sons “sometimes woke up at night and she stood quietly in the doorway, watching them sleep — ‘Oh, are you awake?'” –He had a knife in his hand. ”
In an interview published Tuesday, Federline claimed he was worried about the Grammy winner and their children, citing his “erratic behavior.”
“As a father, I am truly terrified that one day I will wake up and my sons will be faced with the unimaginable,” he told Entertainment Tonight about his ex-wife in an interview published Tuesday.
The father of six also claimed to Entertainment Tonight that Spears called her ex Justin Timberlake the night before their 2004 wedding.
Spears’ representatives slammed the sensational claims in a statement to Page Six on Wednesday. “The publicity surrounding Kevin’s book has once again allowed her and others to profit from her,” they said.
“Unfortunately, this is after the child support agreement with Kevin ends,” they added. The pop princess was required to pay Federline $20,000 a month until her youngest son, Jaden, turned 18. At one point, Federline was paying $40,000 a month because her two sons lived with her in Hawaii.
Federline won custody of the ex-couple’s children after Spears had a series of public scandals in the mid-2000s. She was then placed under a limited legal conservatorship, which ended in 2021 after 13 years.
Spears isn’t the only one thinking about Federline’s book. In August, her ex-husband Sam Asghari disparaged the former professional dancer in comments to TMZ.
Asked what he thought about Federline’s upcoming book that “details[Federline and Britney’s]marriage,” Asghari said, “Well, he was a professional father.”
He added that Federline’s memoir “will be the first book that will teach you how to be a professional father.”
Mr. Federline laughed off the comments in September. “I think every father should strive to be a professional father,” he told paparazzi in Hawaii.
