Winston Duke is officially returning to Wakanda for Black Panther 3, and David Johnson will be accompanying him.
Marvel teased the third Black Panther movie at San Diego Comic-Con, which will be released on December 15, 2028. Johnson will continue the legacy of the late Chadwick Boseman and play T’Challa’s son, Prince T’Challa II.
“I trust him as an artist, and I trust the people who chose him,” Winston told Variety about Johnson’s participation in the series. “I trust Ryan (Coogler). I trust the entire MCU executive team. I think it’s going to be great.”
“Black Panther” is Duke’s first film, and he said he wanted to create an equally welcoming experience for Johnson. “How I was welcomed into this world and welcomed into this world – how I was welcomed so graciously and told it was a safe place to work and play – that’s what I wanted to convey to him,” he said. “I don’t have any advice. I know what I have to do with him and that is to play with him. I have to trust him. I have to give him the same grace that was offered to me.”
Ryan Coogler returns to direct this film after “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” and Letitia Wright continues to play Shuri.
Winston is also scheduled to appear as M’Baku in the long-awaited movie “Avengers: Doomsday,” which will be released on December 18th. The movie’s trailer has been viewed 503 million times since it was released on Monday.
Asked about fan interest in the future of the MCU, Winston said, “What I do know is that we have their attention.” “I think the reason we’re getting their attention is because they have so much faith in the MCU. We’ve produced and delivered so many movies over the years, and it’s never been about any particular director. It’s about the guys.”
The first Black Panther movie, released in 2018, grossed $1.3 billion worldwide and was nominated for seven Oscars, winning three.
