Marcello Hernandez has reacted to Tiger Woods’ arrest for drunk driving during an ESPY performance.
“Congratulations to Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams who will be featured on the cover of the new Madden video game,” Hernandez began Wednesday night. “Congratulations Caleb. And Tiger Woods will be on the cover of Grand Theft Auto.”
The “Saturday Night Live” star was referring to the legendary golfer’s rollover car accident on Jupiter Island, Florida in March.
In shocking scenes, the 50-year-old athlete crawled out of his Land Rover after the incident.
Woods was arrested on March 27 after a car crash around 2pm local time and charged with driving under the influence, criminal damage to property, and refusing to submit to a legal inspection.
He has since pleaded not guilty and announced that he plans to “receive treatment” and step away from golf.
“I know and understand the seriousness of the situation I find myself in today,” the professional golfer said via X at the time.
“I will be taking a period of time off to receive treatment and focus on my health. This is necessary in order to prioritize my health and work towards a lasting recovery.”
“I appreciate everyone’s understanding and support and ask that you please respect the privacy of my family, loved ones, and myself at this time.”
On June 12, the five-time Masters champion was discharged from a rehabilitation center in Switzerland.
Earlier that month, officials claimed Woods was on track to complete treatment by the end of June.
“The original plan was for Tiger to undergo a three-month rehabilitation program, and unless something major changes, he should be on target,” a source told People two weeks ago.
The source said Woods is “doing the best he can” amid the “pressure” to heal and the legal issues he will face in the coming months.
“This is causing a lot of stress,” the official added.
He is scheduled to appear in court on August 4th for a hearing on the current situation.
Woods, in particular, has been involved in several car accidents over the years, including a near-fatal rollover crash in 2021 that left him with life-altering injuries to his right leg.
