Sixpence None the Richer bassist Justin Carey has passed away. He was 50 years old.

The musician “passed away peacefully” on Thursday after suffering a “severe stroke” a week ago, according to a GoFundMe that was raising money to cover medical expenses.

The statement also revealed that his wife, Linda, was by his side at the time of his death and asked fans to “keep them in your prayers and strength during this very difficult time.”

A GoFundMe page was set up on June 11 after Kayleigh was rushed to New York’s Albany Medical Hospital after suffering a “severe stroke.”

At the time, he had undergone two surgeries and was in the intensive care unit (ICU).

“The road ahead is uncertain and scary, so if you would like to send prayers, good vibes and healing energy, we would really appreciate it,” the GoFundMe description reads.

“We wanted to do a fundraiser to help them and show their love and support during this time. Updates will be made on this site so Linda can take each day-to-day step with Justin in the hospital.”

On Wednesday, the page’s organizers issued another update, saying he was still “in the ICU and on a ventilator.”

“He’s getting great treatment!” Update claimed. “Linda is reading a book right next to his bed, hoping he hears the words.

“She is also letting him know how much he is loved. Please continue to pray and send healing vibes.”

Unfortunately, he passed away on June 18th.
