Sidney Sweeney has slammed the media for spreading rumors that she and her Euphoria co-stars were having a behind-the-scenes feud.
“We’ve all grown up on this show together,” she said in an interview with Vanity Fair on Wednesday, when asked about rumors about her upcoming drama and claims that her busy schedule led to a four-year gap between seasons two and three.
“It’s honestly crazy to see how much social media and the press throws things around,” the “Anyone But You” actress added.
“I was in the starting position at HBO. So the moment they say, ‘Hey, today is your first day of filming,’ I’m legally not allowed to do anything else. So my schedule doesn’t affect the show,” she explained.
Sweeney, 28, said it was “funny” to watch people “weave stories” about why filming on the hit HBO show was delayed for so long.
“We were all in first place, so the schedule wasn’t going to get in the way of that,” she declared.
Rumors surfaced that Zendaya (played by Lou Bennett) and Sweeney (played by Cassie Howard) were feuding over several issues.
The US Sun reported that the “Immaculate” actress’ political views, who is a registered Republican, caused a rift between her co-stars.
“They haven’t had a big falling out, but Zendaya has quietly distanced herself from Sid. Their politics are very different,” a source told the publication.
“Zendaya doesn’t want to associate with Trump supporters, which is a bit of a headache,” they added.
The “Dune” star, 29, and Sweeney appeared to be avoiding each other during the Season 3 premiere in April, sparking rumors of a feud.
“Euphoria bosses are well aware of the rift between the pair. There has been tension for a long time…During the production of Season 3, their paths hardly crossed,” a source claimed to The Sun.
“During the press tour, interactions between the two have been kept to a minimum to avoid any awkward moments on camera,” they added.
A source claimed that Sweeney was “in love” with Zendaya’s husband, Tom Holland, at one point.
“It didn’t work out with Zendaya. They haven’t hung out much socially since then,” the source claimed.
However, sources told Page Six that rumors of a feud are not accurate.
“They are both in high demand and continue to work,” the source said.
