Shane Gillis made comedy history.
Gillis broke the Guinness World Record for most tickets sold for a comedy show by a solo comedian, selling 76,212 tickets for the July 17 show at Lincoln Financial Field, home of the Philadelphia Eagles.
Guinness World Records judge Andy Glass verified the official ticket sales figures and confirmed the record to Variety.
When Gillis takes the stage, he’s poised to break another Guinness World Record for largest audience for a comedian. This record is determined by the number of spectators confirmed inside the stadium. This record is currently held by Mario Barth, who performed in front of a crowd of 67,733 at Berlin’s Olympiastadion on July 12, 2008. Gillis’ ticket sales indicate he will exceed that number. (Gabriel Iglesias and Jo Koy attempted to break the record in 2025 with a joint show at Los Angeles’ SoFi Stadium.)
Gillis’ ticket sales record is a new title pioneered by Guinness World Records, with the lowest number achieved being 54,000 tickets. (The organization had previously tracked attendance records, but ticket numbers were not considered a separate feat.) Naomi Watanabe holds the record for most ticket sales for a comedy show by a single female comedian. The Japanese manga artist and actress sold 44,356 tickets for her performance at Tokyo Dome on February 11, 2026.
The record is a full-circle moment for Gillis, who grew up in Pennsylvania and is often seen wearing Eagles gear. The stadium show was clearly the biggest of his career, capping off a highly successful tour for the comedian, who recently hosted Netflix’s “The Roast of Kevin Hart.”
Over the past two years, Gillis has sold over 1 million tickets at over 100 headline shows, setting 34 venue attendance and ticket sales records in the process. At Toronto’s Scotiabank Arena, Gillis sold more tickets than any other live event in the arena’s history. And he set all-time attendance records at Seattle’s Climate Pledge Arena, San Francisco’s Chase Center and Tucson’s Tucson Arena.
