President Trump and Pete Hegseth justify attacking Iran on ‘SNL’: ‘We’re at war’

The “Saturday Night Live” writing team clearly had a lot to work on Saturday, as they opened the show with a skit about President Trump’s early morning attack on Iran.

In the cold air of February 28th, Trump (played by James Austin Johnson) holds a press conference about military action.

“It’s me, FIFA Peace Prize winner and Nobel Peace Prize winner Donald Trump,” he began. “Remember? We launched this attack after me and my peace committee… We were tired of peace. It’s a bit of a play on words, but you get it? As everyone knows, Iran is two weeks away from developing nuclear weapons for the last 15 years or so. So we have to act now, and we’re at war.”

Trump immediately summoned Secretary of the Army Pete Hegseth (played by Colin Jost) to discuss military action.

“They asked someone to volunteer to perform a half-hearted operation on him, but I ran instead of walking,” Jost as Hegseth said. “President Trump called me at 2 a.m. and I was awake and sober.”

Hegseth then admitted, “I don’t know what I’m doing.”

The Feb. 28 show was hosted by Rivals star Connor Story and featured musical guests Mumford & Sons. American men’s hockey stars Quinn and Jack Hughes crashed their story monologues, as did American women’s hockey stars Megan Keller and Hilary Knight. Hudson Williams, who co-starred with Story in “Rivals,” later appeared in a sketch about ice skating.
