Tom Holland claims Norwegian soccer superstar Erling Haaland ignored his offer to “hang out”.
During a guest appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Monday night, it was revealed that Haaland had sent the athlete a proposal via DM, but it turned out that Haaland “didn’t know him at all” and thought he was “the right guy.”
“Yes (I DMed him), and what do I teach him? That’s exactly the type of humbling experience that’s important for actors,” Holland jokingly acknowledged the interaction.
“It’s like, ‘I’ll text him. I’ll take him out to dinner.'” No response. That’s not an excuse,” the “Odyssey” actor continued. “It’s not like, ‘I’m busy tonight, I’m playing soccer,'” Nada said. ”
The 29-year-old actor revealed that he had the idea to contact Haaland after meeting the 25-year-old at last month’s F1 Monaco Grand Prix.
“He was like the guy in the hospitality suite across from me. I just thought I’d take my shot and text him. I never imagined I’d be talking about it on live TV. But here we are.”
When asked if he would ever have dinner with Haaland again, the “Spider-Man” star jokingly replied, “I don’t think he’ll ever have dinner with me again after the other day,” referring to Norway’s defeat to England in the recent World Cup.
Despite the scorn, Holland insisted that Haaland was “incredible” and “an absolute legend”.
Haaland became the biggest breakout star of the 2026 World Cup.
Apart from his impressive moves on the field, the star athlete created a huge sensation with his ‘Viking Flow’ haircut and Birkin bag collection worth hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Last month, Channing Tatum also dressed up as a striker, joining a large group of fans wearing jerseys and long blonde wigs.
Haaland is also known for his soft and goofy personality, a stark contrast to his towering physique and “goalscoring machine” manner.
