Five years after winning a Golden Globe for her role in The Queen’s Gambit, Anya Taylor-Joy is returning to the big screen.
She is leading the latest Apple TV original “Lucky,” which premieres July 15.
Taylor-Joy is an executive producer on the project, which is based on Marissa Stapley’s 2021 novel of the same name. The series was created by Jonathan Tropper, who was also the creative mind behind Apple TV’s Emmy-nominated Your Friends and Neighbors, and produced by Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine.
“Lucky” centers on Lucky (Taylor-Joy), a tough and talented con artist who “left behind the life of crime he was raised in years ago.” According to the show’s official synopsis on Apple TV, Lucky “must embrace his darker, more criminal side one last time in a desperate attempt to escape his past.”
Annette Bening and Timothy Olyphant round out the main cast as a ruthless mob boss and Lucky’s father, respectively.
