What you need to know

Tom Brady opened a new CardVault store in New York City on October 8th. Less than two weeks later, on Oct. 20, a suspect stole $9,710 in collectible cards. New York City police are currently searching for the suspect.

Tom Brady’s new CardVault store in New York City was robbed on October 20th, the New York City Police Department announced in a November 12th news release obtained by PEOPLE.

On October 20th at approximately 11:40 a.m., a male suspect stole $9,710 in collectible baseball and Pokemon cards. The unidentified suspect attempted to purchase items using a credit card.

But the transaction was declined, and the suspect “began manually entering data into the contactless payment terminal without the employee’s knowledge to avoid the declined transaction,” an NYPD news release said.

He left the store and headed south on Lafayette Street. No one was injured in the robbery.

The suspect is being investigated on suspicion of grand theft. He was last seen wearing a black baseball cap, a black hooded sweatshirt, black shorts, white socks, white sneakers, and carrying a multicolored bag.

The New York City Police Department’s Financial Crimes Task Force is investigating the crime, ABC News reported.

There are nine CardVault stores. The SoHo store opened on October 8, according to ABC News.

The store offers customers the opportunity to buy, sell, trade and evaluate sports cards and collectibles. Brady acquired half of the company’s stock in February, according to a company press release.
