All is fair in parenting.
Naomi Watts has revealed how one of her children found a bottle of lubricating gel in her bedroom that actually became a teachable moment at home.
“I mean, I remember the first time one of my kids saw lube in their bedroom and they were like, ‘What?'” the actress, who has son Sasha, 18, and daughter Kai, 17, with ex Liev Schreiber, recalled to People magazine on Thursday.
“And I said, ‘Yes, that’s right, by the way, lube is now sold at Urban Outfitters,'” Watts continued. “And they were like, ‘No way, no way!’
“And I said, ‘Yes, it’s real.’ So, yeah, the stigma is definitely decreasing,” she explained.
Watts’ confession comes as no surprise to fans, as the “Feud” star is someone who isn’t afraid to talk openly about sex.
Last year, Watts, a longtime advocate for perimenopausal and menopausal health, shared a cheeky comment her husband Billy Crudup made about his testicles to cheer her up before they slept together for the first time.
In her book Dare I Say: Everything You Need to Know About Menopause, the 57-year-old Mulholland Drive actress recalls wearing an estrogen patch for hormone therapy when she first went through menopause.
“I was worried that if he saw (the patch), he would realize that it meant I was menopausal and no longer a vibrant, fertile being,” Watts wrote. “Unfortunately, the adhesive in the patch leaves marks on the skin and is very difficult to remove.”
She recalled trying to remove the patch in the bathroom in preparation for her big night with the “Morning Show” actor, also 57.
But Watts ended up rubbing her skin “raw” in an attempt to cover up the marks.
Crudup said it was taking so long that he asked his then-girlfriend if everything was okay.
“I came home frustrated,” Watts wrote. “I stumbled and searched for words, but nothing came out.”
The “King Kong” star explained what was going on, and Crudup even told her, “Hey, if it makes you feel any better, I have gray hair in my balls.”
Watts joked that those words are still “the most romantic words” he has ever heard “on screen and off screen.”
The two first fell in love while filming the 2017 Netflix series Gypsy.
Watts and Crudup kept their relationship a secret for five years, but finally made their red carpet debut in 2022.
By 2023, the lovebirds sparked engagement rumors and two months later admitted they were indeed married.
Three months after walking down the aisle, Watts opened up about their “very great sex” life.
“Personally, I think sex becomes more enjoyable when you take away the fear of having children,” she said at the time, according to the Daily Mail.
Watts continued, “What’s that expression? ‘Business is closed, fun is business.'”
“It makes me feel like, ‘I’m going to do this for me,’ because I’m more confident, I’m more experienced, I’m smarter,” she added.
When asked about her preferred position in the bedroom, Watts quipped: “Top or down? It doesn’t really matter to me right now.”
