Morgan Spector is in talks to play the lead role of Robert Langdon in Netflix’s upcoming series based on Dan Brown’s book The Secret of Secrets, Variety has learned from sources.
Additionally, Rebecca Hall is in talks to play the female lead in the series, which was ordered by Netflix in May 2025.
A representative for Netflix declined to comment.
The show’s logline states, “Symbolist Robert Langdon (Spectre) races against ancient powers and time to rescue a missing scientist (Hall) and her groundbreaking manuscript, a discovery that has the power to forever change our understanding of the human mind.”
Brown and Carlton Cuse are co-creators and executive producers of the series, with Cuse also serving as showrunner under his Genre Arts banner. Genre Arts’ Emma Forman will also serve as executive producer.
Spector currently stars in HBO’s hit series “The Gilded Age” and will continue to star if Langdon’s drama is picked up and “The Gilded Age” is renewed for a fifth season. Season 4 of “The Gilded Age” is scheduled to air this fall. Spector recently starred in the Netflix limited series “Black Rabbit” and has also appeared on shows such as “The Plot Against America” and “HOMELAND.”
Hall left the FX series “The Beauty” and has guest-starred on the popular Apple TV series “The Studio.” She is known for her roles in films such as “The Town,” “Vicky Cristina Barcelona,” and the “Godzilla x Kong” series.
Spector is repped by WME, Untitled Entertainment, and Johnson Shapiro Slewett & Kole. Mr. Hall is represented by Julian Belfrage Associates, WME and Hansen Jacobson.
