“Mono 222” and “I Dream of a Lion” selected for Mammoth Lakes Film Festival Awards

The 12th Annual Mammoth Lakes Film Festival awarded top awards at the event, which will be held May 20-24 in the California mountain town. “Mono 222,” directed by Quinton Dominguez, won the Jury Award for Best Feature Film in North America, and “Dreaming of Lions,” directed and written by Paolo Marinou-Blanco, won the Award for Best International Feature Film. The award for best documentary went to “I Got Bombed at Harvey’s,” directed by Amy Vandrien Stokle and Brian Stokle.

The Audience Award went to “Danny Is My Boyfriend,” directed by Lucy Sandler and Mekhi Lakatos, in the story category. “Tony Odyssey” international story directed by Thales Banzai. Nuisance Bear is a documentary film directed by Jack Wiseman and Gabriela Osio Vanden.

“This year’s festival reaffirmed the power of independent film to spark conversation, foster connections and champion bold creative voices,” said festival director and founder Shira Dubrovner. “We are thrilled to welcome a record number of filmmakers whose work reflects the passion and originality that continues to define this festival.”

Best North American Narrative Feature: “Mono 222,” directed by Quinton Dominguez. $1,000 prize, $15,000 Panavision camera rental subsidy;
Honorable Mention: “A Debt to the Dead” directed by Daniel Castro Zimbrón

International Narrative Feature Award: “I Dream of a Lion” directed by Paolo Malinou-Blanco. $1,000 prize
Honorable Mention: “Tony Odyssey” directed by Thales Banzai

Best Documentary Feature: “Bombed in Harvey,” directed by Amy Vandrien Stokle and Brian Stokle. $1,000 prize

Courage Award in the Documentary Category: “Sugarfly” directed by Max Schoenfeld. $1,000 prize

Best Screenplay: “The Unseen” by Sivakumar Ramanathan, $1,000 prize and a planned script and financial analysis bundle.

Best Short Narrative: “Reunion” directed by Kyle Montgomery and Judd Meyers
Prize of $500. Honorable Mention: “The Boat Movie” directed by Anna Torzullo and Stephanie Ybarra

Best International Narrative Short: “Leivalaul (Breadsong),” directed by Katarina Ole. $500 prize

Best Short Documentary: Jar of Time, directed by Nevena Semova and Swapnil Arjun. $500 prize
Honorable Mention: “Hyoudou’s Paradise” directed by Jacques Rabi

Best Animated Short Film: “Wan Wan” directed by Mayuko Kobayashi Prize money: $500
Honorable Mention: “Long Live Livia” directed by Zack Dorn

Best Music Video: “High Season” by Yulia Janko and Trygve Luktovaslimo, directed by Trygve Luktovaslimo. $500 prize
Honorable Mention: “Elgado Afewo” written by Tinariwen and directed by Axel Digois
