Gordon Ramsay may be one of the most feared chefs on television, but there’s one non-negotiable rule in his household that has nothing to do with food.
The MasterChef star, who has six children with wife Tana Ramsay, revealed on the FOX Upfront 2026 red carpet that the biggest lesson he’s determined to impart isn’t about perfecting the steak or mastering the soufflé, but about basic respect.
“One thing I taught all of them really well was manners,” Ramsey told FOX News Digital. “It’s the most important thing in life, but it doesn’t cost money.”
For Ramsay, this rule applies across the board, whether his children are serving in the military, studying at university or growing up with their father’s global fame.
The celebrity chef and Tana are the parents of Megan, who was born in 1998. Twins Jack and Holly, (1999). Matilda, also known as “Tilly” (2001). Oscar, (2019); and Jesse (2023).
Mr Ramsay’s empire spans restaurants, television and social media, but he has made it clear he doesn’t want to give rights close to home.
“Jack is a special forces member of the Royal Marines who protects his country under the most extreme circumstances,” Ramsay previously told People magazine. “Megan is a great police officer. Holly has gone into fashion. Tilly is studying for a degree at university. Tana and I come from families without degrees.”
Tana also admits that having a large family upbringing helped the couple navigate life with six children.
“I’m one of four and Gordon is one of four, so it’s kind of second nature to me,” she added.
But if there’s one place Ramsay is still losing patience, it’s in the kitchen.
When asked by Fox News Digital what kind of mistakes continue to drive him crazy despite years of screening aspiring chefs, Ramsay didn’t hesitate.
“One of the mistakes I see over and over again that drives me crazy is that people think they should season their food last,” he says.
“When seasoning food, start small, then medium small, and then modify the seasoning at the end. Don’t wait until it’s finished cooking before you start seasoning. Food should be cooked with seasoning, and you shouldn’t ignore 90% of the journey.”
Ramsey also opened up about what keeps him hooked on competitive TV after decades in the industry: the disruption.
“I get so excited when the mix of social media stars, amateurs, and pros becomes a reality because they rub each other the wrong way and that creates friction even before I enter the mix,” he said.
“Then, the power of grabbing it off the stand. Cooking is hard enough, but spinning it with ingredients you’ve never cooked before is extremely difficult, and that excites me.”
FOX has renewed Ramsay’s shows for additional seasons, including “Kitchen Nightmares,” “Hell’s Kitchen,” “Gordon Ramsay’s Secret Service,” “Next Level Baker” and “Next Level Chef.”
