When Meghan Markle and Prince Harry married in 2018, they kept parts of their wedding ceremony almost completely hidden from the public eye. It was a private reception at Frogmore House. The pair were photographed leaving Windsor Castle for the gala, with Meghan wearing her second dress, a high-neck Stella McCartney dress. And that was all that was publicly revealed at that time of day on May 19, 2018.
Now, in 2026, Meghan is ready to share what the festival is really like. To celebrate her and Prince Harry’s 8th wedding anniversary, she posted an unseen photo of herself dancing in what is believed to be her first dance.
She also shared more photos showing some of her private moments during the ceremony earlier in the day.
In the Netflix documentary series Harry and Meghan, the couple talked about their first dance at their wedding reception. “We wanted the music to be really fun,” Meghan recalled, noting that their song was Wilson Pickett’s “Land of 1000 Dances.”
She sang while remembering some of the lyrics. “It was so much fun. It was like a whirlwind going around and around. It was so amazing,” she said.
The documentary also included personal photos from the festival.
During the series, the couple reminisced about how they kept their eyes on each other as their ceremony was broadcast around the world. “The whole world was watching us, but when we were actually at the altar, as far as I could tell, we were the only two people there,” Harry said.
“H and I are very good at finding each other in chaos,” Meghan added. “When we find each other, we reconnect, ‘Oh, it’s you, it’s you.’ Not that the rest isn’t important, but…the rest feels temporary.”
On the day of the wedding, the palace released details of Meghan’s second dress, which was seen in action in her new photos.
They said, “The bride’s evening dress is a custom lily white high neck dress designed by Stella McCartney and made from silk crepe. The bride is made from silky satin and wears Aquazzura shoes made from nude mesh, with soles painted baby blue.”
