Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen looked perfectly in sync in style as they stepped out in a rare public appearance on Thursday, just days before the 2026 Met Gala.
The fashion moguls were snapped enjoying lunch with friends in Manhattan wearing straight-leg jeans, dark coats and minimal mules.
The 39-year-old sisters accessorized with their signature scarves, sunglasses, and matching handbags from luxury brand The Row. Mary-Kate’s $33,000 lady bag is made from rare alligator leather, while Ashley’s is a larger bowling bag made from soft crocodile.
The pair were all smiles as they strolled around town and greeted friends with hugs outside sidewalk cafes.
It is unclear whether they will attend the 2026 Met Gala, which will be held on May 4th. This year’s theme is “Costume Art” and aims to examine “the centrality of the dressed body.”
They last attended the Met Gala seven years ago in 2019, when the theme was “Camp: Notes on Fashion.”
The former child stars have lived much quieter lives after stepping back from the spotlight and launching their own successful luxury fashion brand, The Row.
Their last public outing was in November 2025, when they attended the 2025 CDFA Fashion Awards wearing matching black coats and gorgeous vintage Cartier jewelry worth more than $400,000.
Although they skipped the red carpet, they snuck into an awards ceremony held at the American Museum of Natural History, where they accepted the American Accessories Designer of the Year award.
The two are extremely private about their personal lives.
Ashley and her husband, artist and painter Louis Eisner, secretly gave birth to a son, Otto, in 2023.
As for Mary-Kate, she has maintained a low profile since her divorce from Olivier Sarkozy was settled in January 2021 after five years of marriage.
However, she sparked rumors of a date with former hockey player Sean Avery after the two were spotted together in the Hamptons over Memorial Day weekend in 2024.
In October 2025, Mary-Kate was photographed on an unexpected sushi outing with Kendall Jenner. According to photos obtained by Page Six, the pair stepped out of celebrity hotspot Sushi Park in West Hollywood, California.
The twins’ transition into fashion is definitely a more lucrative choice than their days as TV actors. Full House co-star Jodie Sweetin revealed that she recently received a balance check for just $0.01 after playing Stephanie Tanner on the iconic sitcom for eight seasons.
“I got a penny check the other day,” Sweetin said during an April 21 appearance on the podcast “McBride Rewind.”
She explained, “There’s no syndication anymore because it’s all streaming. Who’s going to get paid for it? Nobody’s going to get paid for it.”
