Mary Jo “MJ” Campbell, the mother of “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” star Kris Jenner, has died, it was revealed Thursday.
Mr. Campbell was 91 years old.
“Today we said goodbye to our beautiful mama MJ. 😞💔,” the talent manager wrote in a lengthy tribute on Instagram.
“There are no words that can express what she meant to me or the heartbreak of having to say goodbye,” Jenner, 70, continued, calling her mother the “heart of the family.”
“[Campbell]taught me everything that really matters: to love your family fiercely, to be kind, to be devoted to those you love, and to never take a moment together for granted. She taught us that family is everything.”
“She taught us how to love unconditionally and how to find joy in the little moments,” Jenner continued. “She taught me how to face life’s challenges with resilience and faith.”
Jenner’s social media uploads included a letter to her late parents that read, “Mom, thank you for all the sacrifices you made, all the wisdom you shared, and all the moments in which you loved us completely. I will miss our daily conversations, your smile, and your laughter.”
She promised that although their “hearts were broken”, Ms Campbell’s love would “live on” in the family tradition.
“When I look at my children and my grandchildren, I will forever see a part of you in all of us,” the “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” alum continued. “There is no part of me that you have not shaped, and if I have done anything right in this life, it is because I have spent my life trying to live in a way that would make you proud.”
“My heart broke into a million pieces… Thank you for giving me the best childhood and oh, what a beautiful blessed life… I love you forever, Mom. Thank you for giving us everything,” she concluded.
Kylie Jenner and Kourtney Kardashian liked the post.
The sisters and remaining siblings, Kim Kardashian, Khloe Kardashian, Rob Kardashian, and Kendall Jenner, have not yet released a statement about Campbell’s death.
Campbell turned 91 in July 2025, and Chris posted about the festivities the following month.
“The most beautiful day celebrating my mother’s 91st birthday,” the reality star gushed last year. “Lunch at The Ivy surrounded by love!🤍💐🎂”
In addition to Chris, Campbell was also the mother of Karen Horton, who passed away “unexpectedly” at the age of 65 from cardiac arrest in March 2024.
It was with a very heavy heart and deep sadness that Chris announced the news, writing: “I cherish every memory we shared together. … Karen’s death is a reminder that life is so short and precious, and that tomorrow is not promised.”
