Katt Williams appeared as a surprise guest on Netflix’s Roast of Kevin Hart, and the two comedians ended their long-standing public feud after Williams delivered a few jokes at Hart’s expense.
“I was surprised they invited me,” Williams said after being introduced on stage by Regina Hall at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles. “That’s how little star power you have. They had to start inviting your enemies. I said, ‘I hate him.’ They said, “Just come.” ”
The comedians’ feud recently reignited in 2024, when Williams accused Hart of stealing movie roles in an industrial plant. Years ago in 2017, Williams denied her career as a comedian ahead of Tiffany Haddish and Hart’s 2018 film Night School. Hart defended Haddish and aired his frustrations with Williams. Although the two have traded jabs over the years, they didn’t officially put their differences aside until Netflix’s Roast Sunday.
“It’s very humbling to be a part of your GOAT roast tonight,” Williams said. “Kevin, I won an Emmy, but this is going to be my best performance tonight because I’m pretending you’re the goat to the people in the house. Are you wondering why the cut guy is doing this for money? Bitch, this is my Riyadh Comedy Festival, the only one with soul.”
Last year, Hart and other comedians came under fire for performing at the Riyadh Comedy Festival in Saudi Arabia. The rest of the roster also made fun of Hart for attending the controversial fest.
“Kevin, tonight you’re going to hear some things you don’t know. Those things are called punchlines,” Williams said. “Is this dance the best dance the industry has put together? I don’t know if the Illuminati is real or if it’s the junior varsity version. But for those of you who just joined, Kevin and I have some beef and I’ll tell you why. Because, in confidence, I’ll tell you, this son of a bitch stole everything from me. Before he saw me perform, he was a six-foot tall guy. I tried to tell everyone that Kevin Hart was a plant because I keep burying him. He keeps bouncing back like a plant. ”
“Yes, I said some things that I want to take back, and I said some things that were misunderstood. I also said that he was a Hollywood puppet, which may not be what you think, so I’d like to explain that. What I meant was that the heads of Netflix literally have their hands up on Kevin’s ass and can make him do anything.”
At the end of Williams’ set, Hart extended an olive branch to his fellow comedian, shaking his hand and hugging him.
“Me and this guy have been at odds for years and years,” Hart said. “It’s a complete surprise that you’re here. But Kat, I can sit, I can watch, I can laugh, because I’m a fan first. Kat, we have a chance in real time. This is live television to forget our shitty meat. I offer you an olive branch of peace. I want to be brothers. I want to be friends, Kat. I want to move on. Can we move on?”
During his own set at the end of the roast, Hart hit back at Williams’ claims that he stole the comedian’s movie role.
“Tonight, I said I did all the movies that Kat turned down. Okay, let’s unpack,” Hart said. “Kat, you’re telling me you turned down Jumanji 1, 2, 3, Ride Along 1 and 2, Central Intelligence, Think Like a Man 1 and 2, The Upside, About Last Night, Me Time, Borderlands, and The Man From Toronto.” So you could have a cameo in Norbit. What are you talking about? Kat, you can’t be in my movie. Do you think they want a pimp in Jumanji? ”
However, Hart still insisted that the feud between him and Williams was over.
“It’s not good for all white people to see two black people fighting. We’re too small to get the kind of beef that we had,” Hart said. “So, Kat, it’s over. The feud between me and Kat is over. And in all seriousness, I love the fact that that guy showed up tonight. He showed up.”
