Keith Urban publicly wished ex-wife Nicole Kidman a happy birthday.
The country singer posted an Instagram Story on Saturday, June 20, with the caption, “Happy Birthday, Nicole Mary!” against a blue and purple background. Kidman (real name Nicole Mary Kidman) celebrated her 59th birthday on Saturday.
Kidman didn’t publicly respond to Urban’s birthday greetings, but she showed him some love on Father’s Day on Sunday. Kidman posted an old photo of Urban carrying their two daughters, Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 15, on his back, as well as a black-and-white childhood photo of her with her late father, Antony Kidman.
“Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there,” Kidman captioned her Instagram Story.
Kidman and Urban, 57, finalized their divorce in January after 19 years of marriage. According to court documents obtained by Page Six, the former couple agreed to waive all rights to child and spousal support, and their daughters were to stay with Kidman 306 days a year. During that time, Urban ended up spending “every other weekend” with them.
In April, Sunday became a hot topic when she unfollowed her father on Instagram. However, she started following him again a few hours later.
Later that month, the Daily Mail reported that Sunday and Faith had sided with their mother in their parents’ divorce.
“[The girls]are totally Team Nicole, and Keith is the bad guy at this point,” a source claimed to the publication. “He is the cause of all their troubles in their hearts, and it is woe to him.”
Mr. Urban was reportedly “distraught” over the situation.
“He loves them, but they are very angry at him and are blaming him,” the source said. “I don’t think this is Nicole telling the story. This is the girls coming to this conclusion on their own.”
Sunday celebrated his mother’s birthday on Instagram on Saturday, writing, “Happy birthday mom 🦋 There’s no one I respect more.”
At the time of publication, she had not posted a separate Father’s Day tribute to Urban.
Meanwhile, Kidman revealed she was spending her birthday in nature, posting a photo of herself sunbathing outdoors on Instagram.
“Another trip around the sun ☀️💛 Thank you for all the love on my birthday xx #SummerSolsticeBaby,” she captioned the photo.
She received lots of warm wishes in the comments section from her A-list friends, including Natalie Portman, Mariska Hargitay, Kerry Washington, and Michelle Pfeiffer.
