Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau let off fireworks from their seats during Team USA’s World Cup qualifier against Paraguay.
Fox Sports broadcast footage showed the stars, who made their red carpet debuts earlier this week, packing on the PDA Friday after the hitmaker’s opening ceremony performance of “Thinking of You.”
In the video, Mr. Perry, 41, and Mr. Trudeau, 54, are seen huddled tightly in chairs, staring intently at the soccer field. The two sat between the seats with their hands clasped together.
Perry kicked off the World Cup tournament on Friday wearing a silver Stella McCartney FW26 ready-to-wear dress at the tournament’s opening ceremony.
The floor-length dress featured an exaggerated waistline and was made of long tinsel-like threads.
The pop star performed “Wonder,” a song from her 2024 album 143, but her performance wasn’t the only thing she focused on.
For this momentous occasion, Perry chose to share the stage with a special singer, 10-year-old Tius.
The “California Girls” singer introduced Tius to fans before the performance and shared a video of his song to Instagram.
“That little voice you’re hearing right now is Tius, who recorded his part in ‘Wonder’ at age 5 in 2021,” Perry wrote on Instagram early Friday, along with audio of Tius’ World Cup rehearsal.
“I heard his vocals in 2023 and was inspired to write the ‘Wonder’ verse, which I included on my sixth album.”
“Tius is now 10 years old and flew from Norway to LA to sing this song with us at the World Cup on Friday ✨⚽”
Perry opened the star-studded song, which featured Tyra, Anitta and more.
The pop star’s performance was just one of three World Cup opening ceremonies by the host nation. Shakira headlined Thursday’s ceremony in Mexico City, while Alanis Morissette and Michael Buble performed in Canada on Friday afternoon.
