Katharine McPhee is not in the market for drama.
The singer responded to Chrishell Stause’s disdain for her support for Spencer Pratt’s Los Angeles mayoral campaign.
One of our followers left a comment under E. News’ Instagram post asked what McPhee said in the first place and posted about the situation.
“Honestly, I don’t know,” the American Idol Season 5 runner-up replied. “I’m just as confused about this controversy as you are ❤️”
Last week, the “Selling Sunset” alum commented on McPhee’s love life on influencer Geordie Clay’s TikTok video.
Clay detailed the scandals the artist has been embroiled in, including her 2019 marriage to David Foster, who is 35 years her senior.
McPhee, 42, is the fifth wife of a 76-year-old record producer.
In 2013, she was also caught kissing Smash director Michael Morris, despite being married to ex-husband Nick Koukas at the time.
At the time of the kiss, Morris was also married to his current wife, Broadway star Mary McCormack.
But McPhee didn’t regret what happened.
In 2016, she told Ocean Drive magazine, “I got married really young, and then I got divorced. I should have done that when I was 20 instead of planning my wedding. But I have no regrets. Every choice I made was a learning experience in a really deep way.”
Meanwhile, under Clay’s extensive video, Stause wrote, “One day she will find true confidence within, but only after being ignored so many times by the troubled men she supports.”
Seeming to reference McPhee’s past comments, the reality star, 44, added: “Women who aren’t confident will steal your man and give you the worst advice.”
Mr. Stause’s harsh words came shortly after Mr. McPhee and Mr. Foster held a fundraiser for Ms. Pratt, 42, at her Brentwood Park home in Los Angeles earlier this month.
A video of the “Scorpion” star serenading a former MTV star has gone viral on TikTok.
Foster was seen playing keyboards while McPhee sang Tina Turner’s 1989 hit “The Best.”
She cheekily changed the lyrics to say she’s “better than[Los Angeles Mayor]Karen Bass and[Los Angeles City Councilman]Nithya Raman.”
Mr. Stause has been vocal about not making Mr. Pratt the next mayor of Los Angeles, arguing in a thread last month: “No more requests for reality star politicians! I have nothing against Spencer! In fact, I like him on TV! He’s not in government, but please keep California together.”
Foster’s support comes as no surprise, as Pratt has been close friends with his former son-in-law, a music executive, Brody Jenner since childhood.
Foster was married to Jenner’s mother, Linda Thompson, from 1991 to 2005.
In 2005, Brody, his brother Brandon Jenner, Foster, and Thompson all appeared on the short-lived reality series Prince of Malibu.
Pratt frequently appeared with his family.
