Prime Video has secured a multi-year contract with Sony Pictures Entertainment and Roadshow Films, making it the exclusive first-flow streaming home in Australia for Pay-1 slate after the theatre and home entertainment windows.

The deal will give Australian Prime members the first streaming access to blockbusters such as Sony’s “28 Years Later,” “I Know Last Summer,” and “Karate Kid: Legend.” This introduces Ben Wan as a new Karate Kid, reuniting Jackie Chan and Ralph Macchio.

“By securing exclusive streaming rights to films from Sony Pictures and Roadshow, Prime members will have first access to stream these films after theatre running and digital rental windows.” “This offers more choice, more convenience and incredible value for customers.”

Sony’s slate also includes Darren Aronofsky’s crime capers “steal” with Austin Butler, “Bring Her Back,” a horror entry from the creators of “Talk To Me,” and “Big Bold Beautiful Journey,” featuring Colin Farrell and Margot Robbie. Roadshow will add award-winning films such as “Conclave” and a sequel to the thriller “Fall.”

Other upcoming highlights for Prime Video include Stephen King’s adaptation “The Monkey” (August 30), Make up Stories ‘Drama’ Addition” and “Den of Thieves 2” by Gerard Butler.

“We are thrilled to announce an expansion of this content partnership with Australia’s Prime Video,” said Adam Herr, senior VP of SISTRIBUTION, APAC and Sony Pictures Television. “In the coming years, there will be an exciting slate of theatrical films featuring Hollywood’s most iconic talent, director and IP.”

Will Meirujon of Roadshow Films Australia’s Director Acquisition, Television and Home Entertainment added:

Prime Video already features Amazon MGM Studios titles, including “The Accountant 2,” “The Boys,” “Fallout,” “The Idea of You,” and live sports such as ICC cricket, including the original Australian “Deadloch,” and “The Narrow Road to Dearthow North.”
