ITV Studios is off to a buzzing start to Mipcom with the announcement that two upcoming big new dramas have been filmed in dozens of territories, coinciding with the start of the Cannes-based teleconference.
Both Andrew Lincoln’s new drama Coldwater and the sister-produced thriller The Guest have sold widely, ITV’s production conglomerate confirmed today.
As previously announced, Showtime acquired the rights to air both shows in the US, but the series is now sold to more than 40 countries including Canal+ in Poland, TVNZ in New Zealand and OSN Group in 28 countries in the Middle East. “Coldwater” will be broadcast in more than 40 countries and “The Guest” is being viewed in 50 territories, including Britbox Australia.
In “Cold Water,” “The Walking Dead” alum Lincoln will star alongside “Trainspotting” star Ewan Bremner in a new drama about an ordinary married man who falls under the influence of a dangerous newcomer. It was produced by Sister (“Black Doves”) and produced and written by David Ireland (“The Lovers”).
Meanwhile, The Guest stars Eve Miles (Broadchurch) and Gabriel Creevy (Black Doves) in a fast-paced thriller in which Miles and Creevy play two friends whose lives begin to unravel. It is produced by Quay Street Productions (“Fool Me Once”), which is owned by ITV Studios. Produced by Key Street founder Nicola Schindler (“Happy Valley”) executive.
