The “Are They Gone Yet?” family comedy series continues as stars Ice Cube and Nia Long reunite in a third installment titled “Are They Gone Yet?”
Threequel is in the early stages of development after being acquired by Skydance Sports.
In the original film, Ice Cube played Nick, a ladies’ man on a mission to impress Suzanne (Long), a gorgeous divorcee who is raising two children. When Nick offers to take Suzanne’s kids on a long road trip (in his signature Lincoln Navigator), he quickly realizes it’s going to be more than he bargained for. The 2005 comedy debuted at the top of the domestic box office and grossed $97 million worldwide. The 2007 sequel, Are We Done Yet?, which follows newlyweds Nick and Suzanne as they navigate life as a blended family and clash with contractors, grossed $58 million worldwide.
Written by Chris Hazzard and Mike Fontana, Nick faces his biggest challenge yet for his grandchildren.
Following the box office success of the two films, TBS adapted the series into a sitcom starring Terry Crews and Essence Atkins. The show aired for three seasons from 2010 to 2013.
“Are They Gone Already?” Produced by Broken Road and CubeVision, with Ice Cube, Todd Garner and Jeff Kwatinetz serving as producers. Executive producers are Ben Hurwitz and Lauren Jenaway.
Ice Cube is repped by UTA and Johnson, Shapiro, Slouett & Cole. Garner is represented by Patrick Knapp of Goodman, Genow, Schenkman, Smelkinson & Christopher, LLP.
